The Statue of Liberty
If you would like to visit the Statue of Liberty, please visit the National Park Services website. The ferry hours change seasonally, and you should also remember that any visit to the Statue of Liberty (and/or Ellis Island) will involve waiting in line and airport like security. Sputnik Guides recommends getting on the first ferry in the morning to the Statue of Liberty if you want to minimize the wait times. Also, if you want to have time to visit both islands, it is important to get on the ferry prior to 2:00pm.
You can avoid some of these lines by purchasing your tickets ahead of time. For information about purchasing the tickets ahead of time, visit statuecruises.com or call 1-877-523-9849.This will also let you reserve a monument pass, which is necessary to get into the Statue of Liberty museum and pedestal, or a crown pass, which will let you climb up to the top of the crown. A limited number of these passes are available at the ferry terminal, but if you really want to go inside the Statue it is far safer to reserve in advance.
